Pumpkin makes a healthy treat for dogs. It's thought to be good for healthy coats, teeth and digestion.
This is a really great way of re-using your carved pumpkin. Freezing it is a good way to ensure you have pumpkin treats throughout the year.
What You Need
1 pumpkin
Roasting dish
Chicken stock (low salt)
Blender
Knife
ice-cube tray
Method
Pre-heat your oven to 170oc
Find your pumpkin
Carefully chop up your left over pumpkin into wedges
Place on the roasting tray and roast for around 40mins
Once roasted and soft leave to cool
Place in the blender with a little chicken stock
Blitz till smooth
Place in ice cube trays (I like the long cube trays from Ikea) and freeze
Once frozen pop out the tray and put in a freezer bag
When you want to use them just get one out in the morning, place onto of your normal dog food and allow to defrost...tasty pooch dinner!
We also give these to our dogs frozen in the summer. To serve, run them under a little water first so they're not too cold.
